CAT HEALTH

Taking care of your new kitten is much like a baby and required constant care and attention within the first few months. It is important to vaccinate your kitten before you bring him or her home and should no older than 8 weeks when this is done.

Your cat will require a total of three vaccinations within their first year and should be vaccinated every year after the last shot. Visiting your vet regularly is the key and many good vets will sent out reminders for vaccinations.

It is also important to remember to protect your kitten from worms, fleas and ticks. Kittens should be wormed every fortnight up until three months, once a month up until six months of age and from then on you only need to worm your cat once every three months. Worming your loved pet regularly will protect your cat from heart worm, roundworm, and hookworm.

Cats and kittens can get sick and some symptoms to watch out for is coughing, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhoea and running eyes. If your cat ever has any of these symptoms or is out of sorts its a good idea to consult your local vet to avoid any serious health risks.
